The New Age of the Sierra Madre

Overview

Once the hub of global gold exploration, the Sierra Madre gold belt in the Chihuahua region of Mexico is once again attracting attention as one of the world's most promising and under-exploited gold resources.

Propelled by significant advances in mining technology and a strong resurgence of the global gold markets, a number of intermediate and major companies have returned to this region, applying state-of-the-art recovery techniques to ore-rich properties last tapped in the 1920s.

And the results have been impressive.

Gold Corp.'s El Sauzal operation produced over 306,900 ounces of gold in 2007, while Coeur d'Alene's Palmajero operation has recently confirmed deposits of more than 3 million ounces gold equivalent. Similarly, Minefinders' Dolores project has proven and probable resources of over 1.9 million ounces gold and 104 million ounces silver.

Pan American Goldfields is currently developing several properties in the heart of this emerging region, which boasts proven resources and the mining infrastructure required to economically and efficiently begin production.
